About

Tarun Masapeta is a social entrepreneur and a global management studies student. In May 2021 he founded Project EIFL (Educate India Financially) which educates the youth from impoverished communities in low income and emerging countries on financial literacy. Tarun has great interest in making the world an equitable place and has been educating himself on how to while implementing various ideas at the same time. He believes that everyone has the power to make change regardless of their age, gender and background. Apart from this, Tarun mentors high school students, works with startups and is a public speaker.

The Inspiration

I come from a humble family, my paternal grandfather was a small farmer in South India and my maternal grandfather was a bus conductor who had to feed a family of five. My father and mother were able to push themselves forward and showered me with one important lesson. Use your education to do good.

Project EIFL

After graduating high school, I looked back into what I learned and asked myself apart from the textbook prescribed subjects and text, what practicality was there? We have a history class, but we don’t have a future class. Imagine if all of us went into this Pandemic with an emergency fund and we knew how to invest. How many lives could have been saved? This was one thought that always ran through my mind, and it was sad to see that the impoverished and marginalized communities were the ones who were barely getting any attention. This is a step forward to make the world more equitable and to bring in change through positive citizen leadership. We bring financial literacy sans gender, caste, religion and race.
